This could not come at a worse time, as the country is heading into winter, which is a period where electricity consumption usually increases. 1. Choose a reverse cycle air conditioner
It goes without saying that having air conditioning is a must in every Australian home. That doesn’t mean you have to resign yourself to high bills to stay comfortable. 4. Use natural light
Your home needs to use as much natural light as it can. Take a walk around your home to see if there are any large trees or plants obstructing you from enjoying the direct sunlight. Removing these can instantly brighten a room and remove the need for 24/7 artificial lighting.
5. Ditch the dryer
If you’re going to fork out cash for your home to be heated, you might as well get the most out of the heat being produced as possible. Instead of running your tumble dryer, why not lay out clothing on racks in the rooms being heated? It will dry slower but will save you plenty.
